tomfoolery is putting it extremely lightly.
i'll recount the situation the best i can. mind you, when this was all occuring, my brain was pretty fried from the day. i might miss some details here and there, but please be aware its not in bad faith. its merely because my brain is just shit.
the update
yesterday, bluesky released an actually pretty interesting update. users can now add off-site links directly to their profile on the site. using myself as an example, i can now edit my profile, add say, my twitch link, in a convenient little field with its own custom title even. that's neat.
users can now link their other profiles on other sites in one handy place on bluesky, right on their profile. that is indeed pretty useful!
well. unless you do sex work.

-- HOLD UP! --
the issue HAS been resolved at this point. however, that isnt really the point of this post. but it is not fair to not mention that bluesky did fix the issue at hand.
the problem
as you can see above, at the time this was posted (7:10 PM EST, Oct 22, 2026), links to sites such as fansly and onlyfans were out right blocked and prohibited from being entered onto one's bluesky profile.
after this above post was sent out, some quoted that at that point in time, they also couldnt put links to various adult sites, onlyfans and fansly included. upon reading the thread to the post above, one user states that even furaffinity was blocked.
at the time this was posted, it seems that anything associated with adult content was blocked from being placed as a link on a bluesky profile.
within the last 24 or so hours, many, many have risen up to discuss this issue, a majority of them rightfully displeased with the situation. after all, many have stated that it was sex workers and furries that were the reason that bluesky even had a chance as a platform.
"oops!"
according to alex benzer, head of product of bluesky, there was "an internal miscommunication," and that adult sites were "accidentally added to the list of disallowed domains."
with that stated, the problem was said to be fixed.
some folks reported not being able to use certain adult-focused platforms (like onlyfans and fansly) — there was an internal miscommunication and these were accidentally added to the list of disallowed domains. this is now fixed! but you may need to refresh your app to get the update. 💙

for most people, the fix was indeed present. users could now add adult links to their pages.
though the answer in the end was simple, Domi reported still being unable to put his links in. i bring this up to mention another tidbit of information.
my girlfriend, wertercatt, is familiar with the ATProto technology. having tinkered with it before, it could easily take a look within. from what it discovered, there are a maximum number of links one user can put onto their page; 10 links. though this limit is indeed in place, it appears that bluesky might've failed to put that indicator anywhere on it's frontend, that i am currently aware of.
passing the information over to Domi, he successfully managed to input his links properly.
wertercatt and i discussed this whole thing on a discord call, and that was when it saw the limit. i know its not really that solid of proof, and i am encouraging wertercatt to consider posting its own findings at some point publicly.
so... what's the big deal?
yes, the problems are resolved. so why am i even talking about this still?
frankly, for one, to document the event from my own account. and possibly, for accountability.
but the main reason i am yelling about this is because; it fucking pissed me off. and it still pisses me off a bit.
let's talk about timing. it is Friday, October 23 2026. unless you live under a rock, you are well aware that fascism is trying to rule the USA, if not eventually the entire planet, at this very point in time. we live in an age of age verification laws for "adult" content, cameras being placed on every street corner, queer and trans people being deemed "lewd" and "unfit for advertisers" and then ultimately banned from various platforms. its fucking bad. its so fucking bad.
you get the point. the timing of all of this is extremely poor, if we are even to entertain the idea of this being a mere accident.
secondly, its known that bluesky has been snuffing out sex workers for the longest time. a lot of them doing their job because its not only their job, but its the only way they can survive. maybe this is me putting on a fucking tinfoil hat, but seeing the rest of the internet do this too, i fail to view this as any sort of mere "accident" on bluesky's end. i truly do believe they backpedaled on it because so many people yelled at them for it.
it is highly, highly ironic, especially since it was, in fact, sex workers that built this goddamn city. i cant say i have any personal recounts of that early time, as i wasnt using bluesky yet. but i am aware of its history. its only fair i am, as a sex worker using the platform myself. i dont do the same stuff others may do, but im in the business regardless.
so yeah. im fucking pissed. and you have every right to be pissed off too, even if you don't do sex work yourself. because once they get us, they're coming after you next. it starts off with whats "acceptable" to ban, such as porn and smut. then they will push a little further. and further, and further. until they get to your peers, your friends, your family, you.
you need to fight in any way you possibly can. i'd argue making handmade, human art is even a form of protest. get angry, speak up in any way you can.
sex work is work. support sex workers. listen to sex workers. protect sex workers. buy their stuff, if you have the funds to spare.
i dont think ive worded ANY of this elegantly, but i dont usually post this sort of thing. but yknow... i'm tired of keeping my mouth shut. i'd rather word it all horribly than stay quiet any longer.
Cave Johnson Umi L., we're done here.
